The City of Keokuk is currently hiring for the position of Police Officer.

Keokuk Police Department’s Mission: The Keokuk Police Department is committed to providing quality and professional law enforcement services to the community.
Pay: $61,439-74,972 (Effective July 1, 2025)
*4% raise already bargained for which is effective July 1, 2026
Hiring Bonus for Currently Certified Police Officers: Up to $10,000 hiring bonus to any certified peace officer who successfully completes the hiring process, accepts a position with the City, and whose certification is from the State of Iowa or a state that the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy recognizes and has a reciprocal agreement with.
Lateral Transfer: New employees, who at the time of hire, are currently certified law enforcement officers and have appropriate sworn experience as stated below are eligible for lateral transfer if they meet the conditions outlined in Iowa Code.

Responsibilities: The work of this class involves responsibility for the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals and the general enforcement of laws and ordinates in a designated area or an assigned shift or on special assignments.
Requirements:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
· United States Citizen
· Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire
· Must be able to obtain a Driver’s License from state of residence
