Less Lethal Instructor School

This 4-day course is comprised of instructor level classes covering OC Aerosols, Specialty Impact Weapons, Chemical Munitions and Distraction Devices. The student will acquire a general working knowledge of products, both technically and tactically, along with the skills necessary to conduct in-service training. **This course is no longer being split into smaller components. The Chemical Munitions Instructor certificate is no longer being offered. If you need only Oleoresin Capsicum Instructor certification, please see the August course.**

This will provide a valid Less Lethal Instructor Certification for three years, expiring 12/31/2026.

Required Equipment

* Eye and ear protection
* Duty gear normally utilized when deploying Less Lethal Munitions/Distraction Devices
* Body Armor Required (Concealable or Tactical Vest)
* Eye and Ear Protection
* Flame-resistant gloves
* Gas mask
* Handcuffs to include key
* Baton with holder
• Can of OC spray
* Gas Launcher 37mm / 40mm (Mandatory) One or Both

Prerequisites:

Each attendee must be in good physical condition and able to perform the practical exercises associated with tactical applications with the use of these products. As per new Iowa Code rules, all ILEA Instructors must have 3 years of experience working as a certified officer prior to attending an instructor school.

Cost: $500
Agency will be invoiced after the school ends. ILEA does not accept pre-payment at this time.
