***This recertification is being held at the Cedar Rapids Police Department Range.***

This one-day course will recertify individuals currently holding ILEA certification as a firearms instructor.  Upon successful course completion, certified firearms instructor status will be renewed until 12/31/2027.

Items on the course agenda include:
Handgun requalification, Shotgun requalification, Written exam, Use of force law update (if applicable), Introduction to new training material and resources, Coaching practice and observation

Note that this is a full day of training; with the exception of the lunch break, please plan to be at the range until approx. 1630 hours.

Recertifying instructors will be required to score at least 90% on both the ILEA Marksmanship Qualification Course and the ILEA Shotgun Qualification Course. Visit https://ilea.iowa.gov and click “Firearms Course of Fire” under the “Training” menu to find the current required courses of fire and target information.

Equipment Needed:
Range clothing appropriate for the weather conditions
Eye and ear protection
Ball cap
Body armor
Duty handgun
Duty shotgun
Duty belt

500 rounds of handgun ammunition, 10 rounds of 00 buckshot, and 25 slugs. Practice ammunition only – duty ammunition is not required.
Sunscreen, insect repellant, and water/hydration are highly recommended.
