Drug Diversion in Long-Term Care Facilities

Drug Diversion in Long-Term Care Facilities is intended to train sworn law enforcement in conducting criminal investigations involving allegations of dependent adult abuse committed by caretakers within healthcare facilities in violation of Iowa Code 235E, with a targeted focus on drug diversion. For the intents and purposes of this training, drug diversion is the theft of prescription medications belonging to residents living in nursing homes committed by nursing home employees. Course topics include, but are not limited to; dependent adult abuse pursuant to Iowa Code 235E, pertinent aspects of the healthcare industry, and conducting drug diversion investigations.
